# Dr Ben Ingram — Proactive Medicine in Kent

> Source: https://drbeningram.com/
> Proactive medicine in Kent. A comprehensive assessment, a written health strategy, and a named doctor who manages your health across the year. Same-day assessment for member families.

# The thing that gets you *is rarely a surprise.*

Most of what shortens a life is building quietly for years before anyone looks. I find it while it is still small, I build you a plan, and I manage it across the year. Your family gets me the same day when something goes wrong fast.

Why it works

## Most illness starts *long before symptoms.*

By the time something shows up in a ten-minute appointment, it has usually been building for years. The heart risk, the metabolic drift, the slow change no single test flags on its own. Standard care waits for the symptom because that is all it has time to do. This practice is built to catch the thing while it is still small, and to stay with it until it is dealt with.

01

### Time changes what a doctor can see

A rushed appointment finds what you came in for. A proper one finds what you did not know to ask about. The difference is not skill, it is time, and time is the thing general practice has lost.

02

### One doctor, watching over years

Continuity is what turns a set of results into a trend. When the same doctor reads your numbers year after year, a small change tells a story a one-off check never could.

03

### Acting early is easier than treating late

Almost everything that shortens a life is cheaper, simpler, and less frightening to deal with early. The whole point of watching closely is to act while acting still costs you little.

---

What the practice does

## Medicine that looks *further ahead.*

Five things, done properly, for a deliberately limited number of patients. The practice is built around watching your health over time rather than waiting for you to bring me a problem.

### The Comprehensive Assessment

A long first appointment, in person. Full history and examination, resting ECG, body composition, heart rate variability, blood pressure profile, and a broad blood panel with every laboratory test included. It ends in a written strategy, not a set of results.

### Continuous oversight

Your results tracked over time rather than read in isolation. I interpret every panel, including ones you have had done elsewhere, and I tell you what changed and what it means.

### Same-day when it matters

When you or your child needs a doctor today, you get one who already knows you. I tell you what it is, what to watch for, and exactly which signs mean it needs more. Home visit when it is needed.

### Prevention and performance

Metabolic health, cardiovascular trajectory, sleep, body composition, strength, and hormonal status. Measured properly, tracked, and managed toward where you want to be.

### Advanced diagnostics

VO₂ max, ambulatory blood pressure, biological age testing, pharmacogenomic testing to guide prescribing, and more. Used where they change a decision, never as a product.

---

Your first year

## What actually *happens.*

The why is one thing. Here is the practical shape of it, from your first appointment through the year that follows.

Step 01

### The Comprehensive Assessment

Your first appointment is a long one, in person. We go through your full medical history, any current concerns, family history, lifestyle, and what you want from the next decade. A full examination, cardiac and metabolic testing, and a broad blood panel follow, with every laboratory test included in the fee. You leave having been assessed properly, most likely for the first time.

Step 02

### Your health strategy

Within five working days you receive a written strategy. Where you stand, what needs attention now, what we are watching, and what we do next. No jargon. No folder of numbers. A clear, honest account of your health and what we do about it.

Step 03

### Managed care

From here, I am your doctor. Reviews are booked by the practice rather than requested by you, results are tracked over time, and I contact you when the data warrants it. You are never chasing your own care.

Scope

## What this is, and *what it isn't.*

This is proactive medicine. I assess you properly, I watch what matters over time, and I act early. For members, that includes a same-day assessment when you or your child is unwell, within practice hours, including Saturday mornings, with a home visit when it is clinically needed.

**It is not urgent or emergency care, and it is not an out-of-hours service.** If someone is seriously unwell, call 999. If something cannot wait until morning, call 111 or the NHS out-of-hours service. Those services exist and they are good at what they do.

What I offer instead is the thing they cannot. A doctor who already knows your history, who has followed your health over time, and who can tell you today whether this needs more than reassurance.

About

## A doctor who knows *you already.*

I'm a GP with nearly 20 years of NHS and private practice experience. I set up this service because general practice has lost the two things that change outcomes, which are time and continuity, and no amount of faster appointments puts them back.

The model is simple: fewer patients than a normal practice, a complete picture of each one, and medicine that acts before you are ill. I know your history. I know your family.

Alongside this practice I lead clinical work in biological risk and executive performance through Ravn Health, which means patients who want to go deeper on cognitive and executive performance have that option too.

- MRCGP — Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners
- MBBS — Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry
- BSc Biochemistry — King's College London
- GP Partner, PCN Clinical Director, and Co-Chair of Medway & Swale GP Federation
- Special interest in metabolic health and executive performance

> "Most people don't need more healthcare. They need a doctor who was already watching."

Patient feedback

## What patients say.

“

Not a figures-only approach. The whole picture gets looked at, and you’re listened to rather than diagnosed by threshold. The level of contact and accessibility is unlike anything I’ve had from a GP before.

Personal member — metabolic health

“

I was able to speak about what was going on at length, on a genuinely personal level, and have test results actually explained. Less anxiety, earlier awareness of symptoms, and real improvements from monitoring alongside the consultations.

Personal member — perimenopause & gut health

“

I developed an understanding of how my body responds to diet and exercise that I’ve carried forward ever since. Blood pressure down, blood sugar down, and I’ve reached goals I hadn’t expected to reach.

Personal member — metabolic syndrome
